How to Draw Flyers – let’s Get Started!
Step 1
In this guide on drawing ruffles, we will draw a dress with many ruffles down the bottom half. For this first step, we’ll start with the left side of the dress outline. You will do this by using some curved lines that connect to form the layers of the dress. We will expand on these sections later. In the guide, so now you’re ready to go!
Step 2
For this piece of your ruffle drawing, you’ll reflect on what you did in step 1. That should make things easier since you’ve already technically done what you’ll be doing in this step. Once you’ve drawn both outlines of the dress, you’re ready to connect them with some details in the next few steps.
Step 3
Now that you have the outlines drawn, you can get started on the internal details of your image in this third step of our guide on how to draw flyers. We mentioned that this dress would be made up of many different layers, and now we will create the first of these layers.
For the top of the dress, you’ll use several curved lines that connect on this first layer to form the material that bunches up where it’s connected. If that sounds confusing, it should be evident once you refer to the reference image to guide you.
Step 4
We will continue to add some layers to your ruffle drawing in this part. This step will allow you to draw the first ruffles. To do this, you’ll use a wavy line to create the border of these ruffles, as shown in the reference image. The wavier you can make these lines, the better! With that layer, you can see how we’ll build the ruffle layers for the rest of the dress as we go.
Step 5
This step of our guide on how to draw flyers will have you repeat the previous step. To do this, you’ll add another wavy line to form the successive layers of ruffles. It won’t exactly mirror the steps, but the idea will be the same. The wavy lines you are drawing will help give the appearance of a flowing, wavy fabric. Now that you have the next layer, we can finish the final details in the next step, so let’s move on!
Step 6
Step 6 of your ruffle drawing will see you add the final details and elements before you start adding some fantastic colors to it in the next step. First, you’ll do what you did in the previous step and add another wavy line for the ruffles at the base of the dress. As with the previous ones, you can modify this to suit your preferences. Once you’ve drawn those wavy lines, all that’s left is to add some slightly curved lines coming down from each layer of the dress.
These lines will help give the fabric some textural details. Once you’ve drawn these details, you’re technically ready for the final step. However, before proceeding, you should feel free to add any details you wish. You can change some of the more minor details for your design or maybe even make a more extensive addition, like drawing a background or someone on the dress. These are just a few ideas, but what else can you think to finish this ruffle drawing?
Step 7
The drawing is complete, so now you can have fun adding some fantastic colors to it in the final step of our guide on how to draw flyers! In our reference image, we used various shades of purples and pinks to color the image, but this is just a suggestion of what you might choose. However, feel free to use whatever colors you like, as this is your chance to unleash your creativity.
I will use it to bring them to life. You could also use some fun crafts, incorporating some like stickers, sequins, or glitter to make this ruffle drawing stand out from the page! What colors and mediums will you use to make this image look uniform? Most impressive?
